The files include correspondence, maps, newspaper articles, lake level books, appraisals, petitions, contracts, receipts, viewers' reports, photographs, budget reports, purchase lists, telegrams, and memoranda. The records include materials created under its predecessors, the Drainage Commission of the State of Minnesota (1901-1919) and the Department of Drainage and Waters (1919-1931), and its successor, the Natural Resources Department (post-1971).
